D.C. bar serves up Trump-themed ‘Stormy Daniels’ cocktail
A bar in Washington, D.C., is offering a cocktail named after the former porn star who was reportedly paid to stay silent about a sexual encounter with President Trump.
The Brighton, located in D.C.’s The Wharf development, introduced the “Stormy Daniels” Saturday, named after former adult film star Stephanie Clifford, who performed under the moniker Stormy Daniels.
“We don’t know much about politics, but we do know a dirty cocktail when we see one. Introducing the Stormy Daniels, $9 all weekend long,” The Brighton said on Twitter Saturday afternoon.
The cocktail appears to be their take on a Dark ‘n’ Stormy, with Jack Daniels’ whiskey instead of rum and the usual ginger beer and lime.
Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen arranged to pay $130,000 to Clifford in October 2016 in exchange for her keeping quiet about the extramarital affair, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
Clifford privately alleged that her encounter with Trump took place after they met at a celebrity golf tournament in July 2006, when Trump was married to Melania, according to the report.
Both Trump and Clifford denied that the alleged encounter took place.
“President Trump once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels,” Cohen said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal Friday.
“These are old, recycled reports, which were published and strongley denied prio to the election,” a White House official told the Journal on Friday.
