Passengers on the flight to Kunming Changshui International Airport in China said they were “lucky” they didn’t crash.

The China Eastern Airlines plane was travelling from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

As it came in to land, the aircraft hit turbulence for about 10 minutes.

Four of the 26 injured passengers are in a serious condition.

Others are being treated for scalp lacerations, bone fractures and soft tissue injuries from falling baggage.

One injured passenger said: “We applauded when the plane landed safely.

“We feel lucky the plane did not crash.”

Another passenger said there was strong turbulence twice and minor turbulence three times during the 10 minute ordeal.

The plane managed to land safely at the Chinese airport at 1am Sunday.

It arrived an hour later than scheduled.

China Eastern Airlines said it has provided medical treatment for those affected.

Express.co.uk has contacted the airline for comment.
